North Korea will never engage in negotiations where preconditions are required .We keep doing this because we do not have anyone with institutional memory in our State Dept or NSC or with any real face to face experience with North Korea
The way to engage the North is with a “Quid Pro Quo” in your face diplomacy –it has worked in the past when Clinton Admin got their agreemeent in 1992 that shut down Yongbyon
I would so like to be able to go there and see the games. I have also been very intrigued with North Korea.
I visited North Korea for a week in August of this year (2012). I saw many monuments, the DMZ, performances (including the Arirang Mass Games), and more. Our guide was totally open to all topics and conversation; we could take all the pictures and video we wanted. There were many tourists, I was surprised to see. I’ve been intrigued by this country for a long time … My visit only enhanced my intrigue! I’m glad to have stumbled across your website today via a CNN article I read. Thanks.
